"Where the Gaze Finds Words"
This seminar explores and describes film posters from the 1920s. In the dialogue between object and viewer, individual texts are created through intensive and sustained writing and reading encounters. These will be published in the exhibition catalog of the film-cultural project by Dr. Simon Frisch and Prof. Dr. Patrick Rössler "Gefesselte Blicke" 2023 by Lucia Verlag.
Over four workshop blocks, the seminar uses the methods of "rhythm and interlocking". In it, two areas of writing: 'writing for listening' and 'writing for reading' are linked together in practical exercises for the participants to experience and sustainably train. Through artistic-craft techniques such as drawing, sculptural design, and various concentration exercises, students gain access to their intuitive approaches to writing. These experiences flow directly into the classical image viewing and description of the film posters. Voice and speech, as well as their rhythm, are particularly observed in the development of the texts. The students read and reflect on their texts with the visitors during the Summaery. The readings will take place in conjunction with the exhibition "Gefesselte Blicke" in front of the film posters in the university library on Friday, 14.7.
