Project description
The bachelor thesis Le Vélo Cargo is about cargo transport via bicycle in urban areas. The fundamental ideas behind the design are the slow processing bike infrastructure in cities, lack of space in open public in general as well as in private accommodation conditions, especially in old and multi party buildings and the high costs of modern cargo bikes as they are currently offered for sale. The result is the Elephant Cargo Fork. With that modification set it is possible to transform every 1 and 1 1/8 inch steel frame, as found in MTB or trekking bikes, into a compact cargo bike. Storing in limited space has become relatively easy thanks to the small size and the rack itself as it is foldable in half. Different storage boxes can be easily connected to the rack with a simple click system, while folded it is possible to hang two common bike bags on either side. The bike with the added Elephant Cargo Fork is therefore useful in multiple disciplines!
