Project description

As part of the project series Gaussian Splatting for Mobile Virtual Reality Devices, our project students explored the analysis and hardware-dependent improvement of modern real-time rendering algorithms for displaying realistic models rendered via 3D Gaussian Splatting.

 

At summaery 2026, Jakob, Jeremias, and Armin will present an optimized rendering plugin for Unity that makes it possible to explore even larger Gaussian-Splatting-based datasets, such as Goethe's study, in virtual reality, in a way that is both computationally efficient and visually appealing.

 

In addition to the hands-on demo, all project participants look forward to answering any questions from interested visitors about rendering details, with a focus on the optimized display of Gaussian splats on both desktop and mobile hardware!
