Project description
The project in Dornburg has now entered its second phase. The ongoing transformation of the former cattle stable into a place for community has this semester advanced through flexible workspaces and experimentally developed climate zones. Working within the existing structure, the project explores Tectonics of Reuse, focusing on designing and building with available resources. The Real-Lab is understood as a format of practice-based knowledge production, in which insights emerge through designing, building, and using, while developing an independent architectural expression from given conditions.
The final presentation is divided into two parts: at the university, we present models, drawings, photographs from the design and construction process of the Versuchsgut Dornburg. Works from the seminar »Hands-On« show mock-ups and material experiments, while »Reflection-in-Action« offers insights into decision-making processes, material cycles, and experiences of the collective building process.
On Saturday, 11 July, we invite you to visit us on site in Dornburg, where you will have the opportunity to walk through the construction site and celebrate the day together with us. Coffee and cake, grilled cheese, choral singing, guided tours, DJ music, and live concerts (nand, Lucidlavalamb, and others) will accompany the event, allowing the built spaces to be experienced and discussed.
The project was developed in collaboration with exnovum, LEG Thüringen, and FRUGAL BAUEN.

- Location: Domäne Dornburg, Markt 2, 07774 Dornburg/Saale (Vom Bahnhof Dornburg a.d. Saale erreicht ihr die Domäne in etwa 20 Minuten zu Fuß. Vom Bahnhof geht es bergauf in den Ort hinein. Am Marktplatz liegt die Domäne oberhalb der Schlösser.)
