Project description

Embodied Conversational Agents are becoming increasingly present in everyday life and are taking on a growing variety of roles, including guides, tutors, and teachers. Yet, when agents can answer almost any question, the bottleneck is no longer access to knowledge — it is the user’s ability to ask meaningful questions. This reveals an important challenge in the design of human-AI collaboration and raises the question: how can agent interfaces guide users toward more meaningful learning experiences?

At the Virtual Reality and Visualization chair we are investigating how users can be supported in exploring and learning from virtual museum environments. By suggesting relevant questions, conversational agents may nudge users toward fruitful areas of discovery, where interesting facts, stories, and connections can be explored. We are therefore testing different interaction conditions and invite interested participants to visit our lab and experience these agent-guided learning scenarios.
