Project description
Cities and the countryside are not simply given. They emerge through media as spaces of experience, imagination, and memory, and are constantly defined in relation to one another. Maps, transport networks, and infrastructures shape movements and connections within and between urban and rural environments. Photographs, films, sounds, and narratives inform both collective and personal understandings of urbanity and rurality.
The works on display creatively build on the theoretical debates and ideas explored in the course module »City and Countryside – Media-Cultural Imaginations and Practices.« Through films and audio pieces, installations, multimedia collages, and participatory formats, they explore and challenge familiar ways of perceiving urban and rural space. Visitors are invited to enter these mediated urban-rural environments and to engage with their own spatial imaginaries, memories, and associations.
