Project description
The mountain meadows of the Thuringian Forest, known for their rich biodiversity, need a comprehensive plan to address the challenges of management and conservation. As traditional uses of these meadows have declined, alternative methods must be explored. One option is community-led practices that can sustainably support the local ecosystem.
Results and Further Research
1. Community engagement: actively involving villagers in decision-making.
2. Youth participation: providing manual support for meadow management.
3. Financing and incentives: balancing economic interests with environmental sustainability.
4. Ecotourism: encouraging tourism and awareness-raising activities.
‘The preservation of valuable mountain meadows requires many players: nature conservation authorities, agricultural administrations, landowners and managers, and volunteers.’
