Project description
How can the future of design studies be optimised? In this 2nd semester Product Design module, design as a situational process is practised simultaneously on several levels and played through using examples. Long-term strategies complement each other with short-term, explorative work. In the interplay of divergence and convergence, ideas are coordinated and communicated between client, designer and team. The ability to define creative anchor points within set limits and to make effective decisions based on one's own experience is central.
The "Long" task begins with theoretical research in teams, which culminates in topic-specific presentations. The insights gained serve as a source of inspiration for the subsequent design process. Design studies are carried out on the questions "How and what will enable you to study design in the best possible way in the future?" (Zoom-out) and "Project studies as a workplace?" (Zoom-in) will be developed. The designs are implemented on a 1:1 scale and can be tested in practice during the further course of the study. This creates valuable insights for the development of holistic concepts and their communication.
The accompanying task "Short" complements the project theme and will result in two peripheral products relating to the "Project Studies Workplace". Both designs will be made of sheet metal and will be realized on a 1:1 scale.
