Project description

On a former four-sided farm in Niedergrunstedt, where wheat was once threshed, vegetables harvested and stables maintained, a communal real laboratory is being created. Here we reflect on both the past and possible futures of rural areas: How and in what form do we want to come together on the farm and in other places? What is necessary and what is possible? Building on considerations from winter semester 23/24, we discussed, tested, discarded and reconsidered together with bauHOF e.V.i.G. and residents. Over several generations, materials have been collected in the courtyard that carry on the stories of the place. From former fence poles to scrap metal, from wooden boards to clay bricks, we explored the characteristics of the materials and examined future applications and transformations from the perspective of sustainable construction. Through experimental design work, careful documentation and processing, as well as the constructive and formative use of these materials, a mobile infrastructure on a 1:1 scale has grown over the course of the semester, with which we can work with the community now and in the future - on the farm and elsewhere. Local needs meet natural resources. Kitchen meets solar power, wind energy meets toilet. We look forward to experiencing our intervention with you as part of the Summaery!
