Project description
Many cyber attacks are based on social engineering techniques. These include pretending to be someone else, writing phishing emails, "dumpster diving" (looking through garbage for useful information that has been carelessly thrown away), and so on. Social engineering exploits human traits such as respect for authority, a willingness to help others, but also gullibility and laziness. Social engineering also relies on triggering and exploiting human emotions, such as fear, curiosity, hope or guilt. In this project, a text adventure will be developed to raise awareness of the techniques of social engineering. The player takes on the role of a hacker and has to break into various IT systems.
