Twelve young scientists and their mentors from the USA, Poland, Austria and Germany will come to Weimar this August for the »Media Philology 2023« Summer Academy The event will be held from 28 to 30 August in the Bibliothek Julius Petersen of the Goethe- und Schiller-Archiv and will address questions on media studies and philology.
From 15 August to 10 September, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, and the Kunstfest Weimar invite you to exhibitions, workshops and performances: The »Bauhaus-Weeks« begin on Tuesday, 15 August at 6 pm in front of the Bauhaus-Museum Weimar, exactly 100 years after the first major Bauhaus Exhibition. In 1923, this event presented the results of work by the State Bauhaus Weimar to the public for the first time and acted as a magnet for numerous artists, intellectuals and art lovers.
From 13 August to 2 September 2023, experimentation, learning and building will be taking over the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus once more: 215 participants from 50 different countries will be attending various one- to three-week language and tech-nical courses at the Bauhaus Summer School.
Starting on Tuesday, 15 August 2023, visitors will be able to experience special works of art from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, with the award-winning works of the »born to be bauhaus« art prize being shown for the first time in a synopsis exhibition in the premises of the nova space in the Schiller Museum.
On Thursday, 24 August 2023, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s bauhaus.medien.bühnen Lab, together with Kunstfest Weimar, invites you to a workshop with theatre director, visual artist and architect Robert Wilson. Held in the university’s Oberlichtsaal, the event will provide participants with the opportunity to explore the content and perspectives of Bauhaus psychology through lectures, film screenings and discussion panels.

Im Rahmen des traditionellen Sommerfestes des F.A. Finger-Institutes für Baustoffkunde wurden am 13. Juli 2023 mehrere Studierende der Fakultät Bauingenieurwesen für Ihre Projekte und Abschlussarbeiten gewürdigt. Neben dem studentischen Wettbewerb »Hochfester Beton« wurde der von der Firma thomas zement GmbH & Co. KG, Dornburg-Camburg, jährlich ausgelobte Förderpreis »thomas zement 2023« verliehen. Seit über zehn Jahren unterstützt das Unternehmen junge Wissenschaftler*innen der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, um die Entwicklungen in den Bereichen Baustoffe und Sanierung voranzubringen.
Who is Behind This Year’s Opening Event for summaery? To kick off this year’s annual exhibition at the Bauhaus-Universität, Frederik Sukop and Beatrice Girth get to talking about the »Party101 – Claim Your Campus« Bauhaus.Module. Bauhaus-Universität Weimar President Prof. Peter Benz speaks about this year’s motto, »23:gardens«, and offers his insights on the annual exhibition’s extensive programme in an interview with students Lisanne Pieper, Jola Tausendfreund and Cosima Riese. Der Film Two Houses, 2019 aus dem gleichnamigen Forschungsprojekt an der Professur Entwerfen und Wohnungsbau entstanden, wird vom 27.7.-03.09.2023 in der Session #02 in der Ausstellung »Atmosphérique, filmer l'architecture« im Arc en Rêve in Bordeaux gezeigt. Die Ausstellung beruht auf einer Zusammenarbeit mit dem CCA – Centre Canadien d’Architecture Montréal und TRANSFER Global Architecture Platform Zurich.
As coordinating university of the BAUHAUS4EU University Alliance, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar – together with six partner universities – received the European Commission’s Seal of Excellence in June 2023. It was awarded to the University Alliance for its proposal within the scope of the »European Universities« initiative. The overarching goal of the University Alliance is to promote the sustainable and inclusive development of European regions.

Together with Bachelor student Jutus Neu, she is reporting on her research and demonstrating the benefits the material properties of bamboo can offer to the construction industry.
As part of the »100 Years of Bauhaus« centenary exhibition, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is organising the artistic-scientific symposium »Heterotopie Ilmpark. Raum für Neue Umweltästhetik«. The symposium will use Weimar’s Ilmpark as a spatial-historical basis for discussion and will address concepts of nature and environmental aesthetics inscribed therein. In this context, the Park itself will serve as the venue for some of the conference.
