On 12 October 2023, first-year students were welcomed to the 2023/2024 winter semester at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. University President Prof. Peter Benz and Vice President of Student and Academic Affairs Dr. Simon Frisch welcomed the new students and got them in the spirit for this exciting new phase in their lives.

Am Freitag, 29. September 2023, wurde die fünfte und damit letzte Episode der Ausstellungsreihe »POWER HOUSE«, die anlässlich des 100-jährigen Jubiläums der ersten Bauhaus-Ausstellung im Schiller-Museum Weimar stattfindet, eröffnet. This year is the first time that the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is a partner of the ACHAVA Festspiele Thüringen. As part of this cooperation, a discussion series with Shoah survivors and their descendants, speakers from Israel and Germany, and instructors and students from the University will take place on Thursday, 5 October 2023 from 2 to 6 pm. A celebration will follow on the University campus to kick off the new semester at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and to mark the official beginning of the ACHAVA Festspiele Thüringen.
Große Erwartungen verbinden in diesen Tagen Wissenschaftler*innen der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und der Jagiellonen-Universität Krakau: Nach dreijähriger Arbeit werden am 30. September 2023 die Ergebnisse des deutsch-polnischen Forschungsprojekts »Schriftstellerinnen aus der Sammlung Varnhagen. Briefe – Werke – Relationen« auf der durch die Thüringer Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek (ThULB) in Jena gehostete Website schriftstellerinnen-varnhagen.eu öffentlich gemacht. Die digitale Edition ist in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Jagiellonen Bibliothek in Krakau, der Universitätsbibliothek der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und der Agentur v3 consulting (München) entstanden.
The BAUHAUS4EU University Alliance, which is made up of seven partner universities, met from 26 to 28 September 2023 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar to strengthen cooperation, plan future projects and prepare a new application for EU funding for the European ERASMUS University Alliance.
On 27 September 2023, the »Freibad-Kolonnade« [»Outdoor Pool Colonnade«] design-build project was conferred second prize in the 2023 Thuringian environmental awards. The project was initiated by the Junior Professorship for »Konstruktives Entwerfen und Erproben« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar for the south Thuringian community of Rippershausen. It successfully prevailed over more than 40 projects submitted for the competition that champions exemplary commitment to climate protection and resource efficiency.

On Tuesday 26 September 2023, the Inauguration Ceremony for Prof. Peter Benz as President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar was held in the Audimax. In front of a full auditorium, Thuringia’s Minister of Science Wolfgang Tiefensee officially appointed the new President. Numerous University members and guests attended Prof. Benz’s inaugural speech on »Being Free«.
The Presidium of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has announced their plan for the next three years. The Programme sets the priorities for the upcoming months and years, identifying numerous measures and milestones that are scheduled to be met before the end of 2023. The Programme also calls upon all University members to help actively shape and contribute to the future of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, »Your University«.
Die Gründerwerkstatt neudeli, die erste Anlaufstelle für alle Gründungsinteressierten an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, veröffentlicht am 29. September 2023 die erste Folge des Podcasts »Auf eigenen Wegen«. In dem Format berichten Alumni der künstlerisch-gestalterischen Studiengänge, wie sie in die Selbstständigkeit gestartet sind.
Das Referat Personalentwicklung und Gesundheitsmanagement der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar hat ein vielfältiges Inhouse-Fortbildungsprogramm mit insgesamt 15 Veranstaltungen zusammengestellt. Alle Mitarbeitenden der Universität können sich ab sofort für einen oder mehrere Kurse anmelden.
On Thursday, 5 October 2023, a discussion series with Shoah survivors and their descendants, speakers from Israel and Germany, and lecturers and students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will take place on campus as part of Thuringia’s ACHAVA Festspiele. All interested parties are warmly invited to join. The series will take place on »Seat#12«, a seating installation by artist and Faculty of Media staff member Jenny Brockmann. The installation will be exhibited in the Main Building especially for this day and is intended to inspire a lively space for discussion.
»Was Du heute kannst entsorgen …« and »Verschwende Deine Gedanken« – these slogans will be posted all over campus at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar over the next few weeks. They are a part of the »Less ego. More respect.« campaign, which is aiming to promote the campus as a creative, harmonious public space where we all interact respectfully with nature. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Presidium hopes to send a creative and empathetic message to show young people interested in studying how to constructively and experimentally interact with one’s environment in the context of studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
