Tim Simon-Meyer, Junior Professor for Constructive Design and Experimentation, has been a member of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism since 1 October 2023. He is one of eight tenure track professors at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, which the University was able to secure through the »Bund-Länder-Programm zur Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses« programme.
Over the next three years, the Departments of Computer Science in Architecture, Urban Studies and Social Research, and Virtual Reality and Visualisation in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism and the Faculty of Media at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be working together with partners in Weimar and Berlin to research how citizens can participate in urban development processes using virtual reality. The »Bauhaus Participation Lab« joint project is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research with nearly 1.3 million euros.
At the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism’s graduation ceremony on 17 November 2023, awards were presented for outstanding final thesis projects. The 23 Bachelor and Master projects nominated by the faculty's departments will be on display in the Main Building until 8 December 2023. The works on display include four award-winning projects from the »Design« and »Research« categories, as well as nine projects that received honourable mentions.
Each year, the German government hosts a Digital Summit, a congress that addresses the challenges posed by the digital transformation in Germany. The Digital Summit will be held in Jena on 20 and 21 November this year. During the summit, representatives from business, science and civil society will have the chance to engage directly with the German government and discuss the potential and opportunities of the digital transformation on-site. The key question is: How can we harness digital technologies to shape a sustainable and liveable future?

The non-profit »Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre« foundation regularly provides funding for future-oriented university teaching projects. Prizes are awarded for exciting teaching approaches that demonstrate strong potential for innovation. From 9 to 11 November 2023, a unique international short film festival will take place at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar: only films that work without dialogue and language barriers will be shown. From a total of 2,256 submissions from 118 countries, 67 works were selected to be shown over three days of the festival.
The Startup Hub »neudeli« has been the central point for those interested in starting their own business since 2001. The Hub has recently secured funding through the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action’s (BMWK) »EXIST-Women« programme. neudeli will be receiving up to 105,000 euros, as well as the opportunity to provide women founders with scholarships through the neudeli »empowHER« programme.
The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Career Services and the International Office Invite you to the Digital Career Fair from 28 to 30 November 2023. The event offers students, alumni and businesses a platform to network and get to know one another and assists with a successful start to a career. The event is aimed primarily at international students of computer science and engineering. Students from other disciplines are of course also welcome to attend.
