Invitation to Participate in the Design and Discussion on the »Ideenlabor« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

How do we want to live in the future? How can we make our lives more sustainable, socially just and liveable? The European Union has called for the consideration of just these questions together with attendees of the festival taking place in June as part of its New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative. As an official partner of the NEB, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will host an »Ideenlabor« on Friday, 10 June 2022, and invites all interested parties to come discuss, inspire and experiment.

Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes Appointed to Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk’s New Board of Directors

The MDR Broadcasting Council elected a new Administrative Council for the public broadcaster during its meeting on 16 May 2022 The MDR Board of Directors has ten members in total: four from Saxony, three from Saxony-Anhalt and three from Thuringia.

Weiterbildungsangebote zum Thema Diversität: »Diversity Tage 2022 an Thüringer Hochschulen«

Das »Netzwerk Diversität an Thüringer Hochschulen«, dem auch die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar angehört, nimmt zum ersten Mal an den deutschlandweiten Diversity-Tagen teil. Von 16. Mai bis 3. Juni 2022 hat das Netzwerk eine Veranstaltungsreihe mit dem Titel »Diversity Tage 2022 an Thüringer Hochschulen« organisiert. Die Veranstaltungen rund um die Themen Diversität und Anti/Diskriminierung an Hochschulen finden teils im Internet und teils in Präsenz an den Thüringer Hochschulen statt.

»Devising our Energy Future« – Inaugural Lecture by Prof. Dr. Mark Jentsch

A good two and a half years after his appointment as endowed professor for »Energy Systems«, Professor Jentsch hosted an inaugural lecture in the Audimax at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on 11 May 2022. Due to the pandemic-related delay, the event also provided an opportunity to take stock. Around 100 guests from business, science and politics acknowledged Professor Jentsch’s future-oriented work in the field of hydrogen production and usage for a comprehensive energy and mobility transition.

How Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Supports Refugees from Ukraine

The Presidium has placed a high priority on helping and supporting refugee students, academics and artists from Ukraine through appropriate means. The University has expressed unconditional solidarity with Ukraine and condemned Russia’s barbaric war of aggression. Since February 2022, a number of measures have been adopted to simplify admission.

Promoting Diversity, Fighting Discrimination, Creating Equal Opportunities: »Vielfalt gestalten« (shaping diversity) audit workshop on 12 May 2022

One year ago, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar launched its »Vielfalt gestalten« (shaping diversity) audit through a kick-off workshop. On Thursday, 12 May, a second workshop will take place as part of the audit and all university members are encouraged to join.

TROPICALISZT – Collaborative Project Between the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar Combines Piano Music with 360° Projections During the FullDome Festival

Students from the two Weimar universities developed a multimedia concert during a Bauhaus.Module that will now premiere at the FullDome Festival to mark the 150th anniversary of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar. Multi-piano compositions by Franz Liszt and his contemporary Louis Moreau Gottschalk (1829–1869), who performed in North and South America, formed the starting point for the project.

Doppelter Erfolg für Studierende im Architektur-Nachwuchswettbewerb »wa aktuell«

Gleich zwei Arbeiten waren im diesjährigen studentischen Ideenwettbewerb der Fachzeitschrift »wa aktuell« erfolgreich: Jana Katharina Bolten erhält für ihre Abschlussarbeit im Master Architektur zur Umnutzung von Center Architekturen der 1990er einen von fünf Preisen, eine von fünf Anerkennungen geht an Paul Zimmermann und Victoria Grossardt für ihre Semesterarbeit zu einem Europäischen Zentrum für das Erleben und Erforschen fragiler maritimer Welten.

Focus on Digitalisation: The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Presents Three Innovation Projects

As part of the »So digital ist Thüringen« roadshow, Carsten Feller, State Secretary in the Ministerium für Wirstschaft, Wissenschaft und Digitale Gesellschaft (TMWWDG), paid a visit to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on 22 April 2022. Along with a visit to the Digital Bauhaus Lab, the programme included presentations of projects from the Faculties of Civil Engineering and Media, as well as a lively exchange on Thuringia’s digital strategy.

SpaceKidHeadCup 2022 - Soapbox building workshop and soapbox race

The best soapbox race on the planet Weimar is entering its 31st round. Traditionally held on 1 May, the event is once again allowed to let the boxes take to the starting line after a two-year pit stop. As in the last race in 2019, the brave racers will jet down Windmühlenstraße. As always, the much-coveted trophies in the "Style" and "Speed" categories await the participants.

Interdisciplinary Team of Students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Wins German Design Council International Competition with Sustainable Plant Pot

Nora Giuliana Iannone, a Master’s student of architecture, and Massimo Scheidegger, a student from the Bachelor’s programme in Produktdesign, are among the winners of the international »ein&zwanzig« competition with their project »Future Artifact – Charby«. Their design for a planter made of vegetable carbon that binds CO2 is thus one of the total of 21 designs that have been invited to exhibit at the renowned design fair »Salone del Mobile« taking place in Milan from 6 to 12 June 2022.

Bauhaus-Universität Weimar University Council Elects New Members

In the Wednesday, 6 April 2022 session, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar University Council elected three new members; Prof. Dr. Karola Wille, Jórunn Ragnarsdóttir and Albert Berger will serve on the Council for a four year term following their appointment by the Ministerium für Wirstschaft, Wissenschaft und Digitale Gesellschaft (TMWWDG). Prof. Dr. Horst-Michael Ludwig was also newly appointed to the Council as an internal member earlier in March this year.
