Publication »Type & Feminisms« released
It' s time: As part of the typography course »Type & Feminisms« from the winter semester 2020/21, the publication of the same name was created under the supervision of Jun.-Prof. Stefanie Schwarz, which is now celebrating its release.
The ring-bound publication presents all 17 typefaces developed in the course. These were created in the designers' personal confrontation with various themes of feminisms. The course was mainly about finding out how wide the spectrum of feminism is and how typography and type design can be connected and communicated with the different feminisms.
In addition to typefaces, the participants in the course designed their own posters and brochures on their individual topics and developed their own gender symbols to support inclusive and gender-equal language. The publication provides insights into each typeface development and derivation - the individual feminisms are illuminated through their typographic representations.
All interested people are invited to the release event on Saturday, 25 September 2021.
»Type & Feminisms« is published by Lucia Verlag, an independent non-profit publishing house that brings out individual works from the student environment of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
