Interdisciplinary »Equity at Bauhaus — Equity & AI« Begins on 4 November
The »Equity at Bauhaus« lecture series is entering its fourth round: Seven speakers from various fields will be focussing on equal opportunities and artificial intelligence in the 2024/2025 winter semester. They will be looking at topics such as digital colonisation, how prejudices are reproduced through AI, and questions around ethics in technology.
The goal behind the lecture series is to initiate a discussion on one of today’s most pressing social challenges and to show how AI can be used to shape society in the future, both on- and offline. The lectures will also examine topics such as racism and discrimination, as well as the opportunities for using AI in teaching and learning. The programme also includes looking at how a participatory design process can succeed.
The lecture series is an open forum where all university members are welcome to share their perspectives and get involved in transformative social, political, and digital processes in everyday life, learning, research, and administration.
The series will begin on Monday, 4 November 2024 with a lecture by Gabriele Bolke-Fügl, Vice President of Women in AI Austria and whistle blowing and AI expert. Her lecture, titled »Von Technik zu Werten – die transformative Kraft der KI«, will being at 4:30 pm in the Bauhaus.Atelier.
The lecture series is part of the »New European Bauhaus« initiative at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and it raises the question of how to shape a sustainable future in the face of challenges posed by climate change and the convergence of technology, science, and art. Technology is the focal point of this year’s lecture series.
»Equity at Bauhaus – Equity & AI« events are organised by the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering Equal Opportunity Advisory Board with support from the university’s Equal Opportunity Office. All lectures are open to the public and free of charge. Apart from the opening event, all lectures will be held in English in the Bauhaus.Atelier, Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 8.
