»TOKYO RESEARCH PROJECT« takes architecture students and academic staff on an excursion to Japan

From 14 to 26 September, students and academic staff will explore the subtle interactions between Europe and Japan from the 20th century until today. The excursion will be carried out in cooperation with Japanese partners, including Waseda University and the Goethe-Institute in Tokyo.

»The Tokyo Research Project is an international experimental research project which was developed in a seminar and has culminated in the winter semester 2017/18 project«, says Prof. Verena von Beckerath, Professor of Housing Design in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

»bauhaus constellation«, a discussion series, is part of the excursion. In the build-up to the 2019 Bauhaus100, the series focusses on the reciprocal relationship between Bauhaus and Japanese architecture and design history. The series will begin with discussions on contemporary architecture in Tokyo and Berlin, led by representatives from two generations of architects.

This project is financed by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar »Bauhaus100« start-up fund.

For further information, contact Susann Zabel in the Housing Design administration office by email, susann.zabel[at]uni-weimar.de, or by telephone, +49 (0) 36 43/58 31 76.
