AUDIO VISIONS – International Conference of the Experimental Radio Department
Acoustic spaces are far more diverse today than ever before. Yet they are also undergoing a series of changes as a result of new advances in design and reception. At the international scientific conference «AUDIO VISIONEN» from 22 to 24 November 2013, experts will have the chance to discuss acoustic spaces in an age of hybrid media constellations.
Radio researchers from Cyprus and media studies scholars from Switzerland will present an overview of their current research projects, highlighting the changeability of the term «radiophony», the characteristics of electroacoustic spaces of sound and listening, and the identity-building significance of sound with respect to urban locations.
The conference will investigate acoustic space at three levels: as a product of hybrid constellations, as geographic locations which are increasingly shifting or re-defining themselves due to changing media, and as virtual platforms to investigate how acoustic stories can be better contextualised, curated and interlinked on the Internet.
