Bauhaus Christmas Market Offers Unique Gifts, Christmas DEFA Animated Films and the »Lebkuchen Bauhaus Wettbewerb«
On Saturday 09 December 2023, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, together with Studierendenwerk Thüringen, invites you to the annual »Buy Yourself a Piece of Bauhaus« Christmas market. With nearly 80 stands, visitors can expect to find unique and handmade products, as well as an exciting supporting programme.
From 10 am to 6 pm, the Mensa am Park will be transformed into a colourful Christmas market. In addition to creative Christmas accessories made out of a broad range of materials. Some of which are recycled, the market will also be offering numerous gift ideas, such as design products and unique everyday pieces designed by Bauhaus-Universität Weimar students, staff and alumni.
Employee Sebastian Schröter, for instance, will be selling poinsettias, decorative items, mobiles and small tables. Students Bianca Walther and Zita Frohloff will be selling their personally designed ceramics and student Constantin Graw will be selling postcards, candlesticks and wooden objects, among other things. Alumna Mona Volkmann will be selling handmade concrete objects and jewellery, and alumnus Samuel Schubert will be drawing witty caricatures on site.
Christmas Films and the »LebkuchenBauhausWettbewerb«
The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Alumni Office will be presenting a magical Christmas fairy tale reel with DEFA animated short films this year alongside the Christmas Market. In the afternoon, the Architecture and Urbanism Faculty Staff Council invites you to their »LebkuchenBauhausWettbewerb« (gingerbread house competition). The Mensa am Park will be provided food and drinks.

The Bauhaus Christmas Market with the slogan »Buy Yourself a Piece of Bauhaus« is organised by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar University Communications department and the Bauhaus.Atelier team together with Studierendenwerk Thüringen. The event is organised as a mediator between studies and the work world. Students and alumni are given a platform to present their products and to make them accessible to the public.
