Radio in Germany is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023. To mark this occasion, the artistic research project »Listening to the World – 100 Years of Radio« is exploring listening as a global phenomenon. Sound artists and researchers as well as radio practitioners and theorists came together in Montevideo (March 2023) and Manila/Sagada (August 2023) to examine the past, present and future of regional and transregional listening during workshops. On 21 and 22 October 2023, the preliminary outcomes of the cooperative project between the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Goethe-Institut and Deutschlandfunk Kultur will now be presented at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin.
On Thursday, 5 October 2023, a discussion series with Shoah survivors and their descendants, speakers from Israel and Germany, and lecturers and students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will take place on campus as part of Thuringia’s ACHAVA Festspiele. All interested parties are warmly invited to join. The series will take place on »Seat#12«, a seating installation by artist and Faculty of Media staff member Jenny Brockmann. The installation will be exhibited in the Main Building especially for this day and is intended to inspire a lively space for discussion.
Am 22. September 2023 findet vor dem Bauhaus-Museum auf dem Stéphane-Hessel-Platz ab 14 Uhr erstmals ein Weimarer Städtepartnertag statt. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei der Gropius-Zimmer-Pavillon der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Nach seiner mehr als dreijährigen Reise durch Weimars Partnerstädte ist der Kubus nun zurück in der Stadt.
Am Freitag, 22. September 2023, 16 Uhr, beschließt die vierte Episode der Jubiläumsausstellung »POWER HOUSE« im Schiller-Museum ihre Laufzeit mit einer besonderen Veranstaltung: Die partizipative Klangperformance »walk in waves« des Kollektivs »rundfunkorchestra« bezieht sowohl die Besucher*innen als auch den gesamten Ausstellungsraum ein. Das technische Herzstück der Performance, der »Funkstern Plus«, wurde jüngst vom Freistaat Sachsen ausgezeichnet. Interessierte sind herzlich eingeladen, sich zu beteiligen.
On Friday 29 September 2023 from 6 to 10 p.m., the fifth episode of the »POWER HOUSE« exhibition series will open in Weimar’s Schiller-Museum. The series marks the 100th anniversary of the first Bauhaus exhibition. nova space, the University Gallery of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, is hosting the exhibition under the title »energy rising« in reference to the many forms of energy flow.
Am 16. September findet der World Cleanup Day, die größte Freiwilligeninitiative zur Beseitigung von Müll, wieder in Weimar statt. Die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar wird sich in diesem Jahr aktiv an dem Tag beteiligen, um ein Zeichen gegen Ressourcenverschwendung und Umweltverschmutzung zu setzen. Alle Universitätsangehörigen sind eingeladen, sich der Initiative anzuschließen.
On 29 September 2023, 11.30 am, a twin exhibition will be opened in the foyer of the University Library, focusing on creative projects and people from Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Am 20. September 2023 startet mit der »Bauhaus Digitalwerkstatt« ein Angebot für Schüler*innen, die ihr Interesse für Informatik, Mathematik und der Lösung komplexer Probleme vertiefen wollen. In zweiwöchigen Einheiten vermitteln ihnen Studierende aus dem Fachbereich Medieninformatik der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar technische Grundlagen und verbinden diese mit aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Fragestellungen.
Climate-neutral and multifunctional: The 21st International Baustofftagung (ibausil), scheduled to take place from 13 to 15 September 2023 in the Congress Centrum Weimarhalle, will address the requirements that construction materials will have to meet. The conference, organised by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar F.A. Finger Institute for Building Material Engineering, will focus on current topics of building materials production and use. Thuringian Minister President Bodo Ramelow will be in attendance, as will University President Prof. Peter Benz.
On 31 August, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Kunstfest Weimar extend a joint invitation: Starting at 7 pm, the Bauhaus-Parade will be making its way from campus through Park an der Ilm to the Haus am Horn.
Under the motto »Open.Ateliers«, the students of this year's Bauhaus Summer School will exhibit their work on 1 September, starting at 3 pm, and give visitors the opportunity to get to know their ideas, concepts and artistic works.
In March 2023, Prof. Peter Benz commenced his post as President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Since June of this year, the new Vice Presidents have also been appointed. Unter dem Titel »Zwischen Bibo und Bot: Studierende im Blick.« stellt das eTeach-Netzwerk Thüringen in diesem Jahr das medienbereicherte LERNEN in den Mittelpunkt und lädt alle Interessierten am 15. und 16. November 2023 zu ihrer Jahrestagung an die Fachhochschule Erfurt ein.
Bereits zum zweiten Mal veranstaltet die Fakultät Bauingenieurwesen in Kooperation mit der Bauhaus Weiterbildungsakademie Weimar e.V. (WBA) am 1. September 2023 einen Kennenlerntag für berufstätige Ingenieur*innen, die sich im Bereich Bauphysik oder Bausanierung weiterbilden möchten. From 1 September to 8 October 2023, the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (MK&G) will present 53 outstanding graduates from 23 renowned German design and art academies from the fields of product and industrial design under the title »Dare to Design«, including five works from the degree programme in product design. Initiated and curated by German Design Graduates of the German Design Council, the presentation offers an overview of the most current positions of young design from Germany like no other exhibition. The annual group exhibition is being held at the MK&G for the first time.
At the renowned media art festival »Ars Electronica« in Linz, a total of 29 artists from the Faculty of Art and Design will be exhibiting their works in the »Campus« area from 6 to 10 September 2023. Under the title »Non-machines: Playground of Perspectives«, these artists will enrich the festival programme with contemporary debates and works from the »Media Art and Design« degree programme.
