Record Number of Participants at the Bauhaus Spring School 2025
From 27 February to 7 March, the Bauhaus Spring School will attract students from all over Europe for its fourth year. With 226 participants from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and its European partner universities, this year’s international short programme has a record number of enrolments. In ten interdisciplinary courses on architecture and urbanism, art and design, and media and culture, participants will have the chance to work creatively together and engage in intercultural networking. Guests are warmly invited to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus for the final presentation on 7 March beginning at 2 pm.
»As part of the ERASMUS Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), 25 partner universities from all over Europe will be represented this year. It’s amazing to see how the popularity of the Bauhaus Spring School is growing as an innovative teaching format and how it has established itself as an international exchange platform for our partners«, says Kristiina Oelsner, Bauhaus Spring School coordinator. The international short-term programme began in the 2025 winter semester with online courses and will now continue with a nine-day in-person phase in Weimar.
Interdisciplinary Courses on Global Challenges
The multifacted course programme focusses on current global issues and combines different disciplines. The »Zero Carbon, Zero Waste« Architecture and Urbanism course, for example, looks at strategies on how organic building materials like wood and loam can be reused in a resource-friendly way in order to reduce CO2 emissions. In the Media Studies course »Trash in Media and Media as Trash«, participants analyse how waste is portrayed in the media and how media itself becomes waste. The practically-oriented »Reflexions and Refractions: when glass meets light« course invites participants to carry out creative experiments with light and glass.
In addition to an intensive learning experience, the Bauhaus Spring School 2025 also offers students a varied supporting programme that provides an opportunity to relax, network, and take part in joint activities. Excursions to Erfurt, Eisenach, Dessau, and Leipzig give participants the chance to explore culturally significant cities in central Germany in addition to Weimar. A movie night and the popular karaoke party guarantee a laid back and social atmosphere.
The »Open Ateliers« on 7 March from 2 to 5 pm is a major highlight: The final exhibition on the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus has Bauhaus Spring School participants exhibiting their work and giving visitors the chance to learn more about their ideas, concepts, and artistic work. All those interested are cordially invited to the event.
