Honorary Professor Micky Remann teaches »Immersive Media« as Visiting Professor at Chulalangkorn University in Bangkok in March
From 1 to 31 March 2023, Hon. Prof. Micky Remann will visit the Thai Chulalangkorn University in Bangkok as a visiting professor. Together with the Asian students, he will develop concepts for 360-degree projections and performances in lectures and exercises.
Micky Remann has been invited to become a Visiting Professor at the renowned Chulalangkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, in March 2023. At the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts there, Remann will work with students on concepts for digital fulldome projections and immersive performances.
The invitation was preceded by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Chulalongkorn University and Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is an amicable, non-legally binding declaration of intent between institutions that establishes a framework for short-term or future collaborations and projects.
For more than ten years, Hon. Prof. Micky Remann has played a key role in supervising the field of immersive media in the degree programme »Media Art and Design«. The approaches developed at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in partnership with the FullDome Festival at the Zeiss Planetarium Jena and the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar are increasingly attracting international interest.
For example, there are also connections to Japan in the field of immersive media. Tamagawa University in Tokyo has its own fulldome planetarium, where in January 2023 numerous 360-degree films were shown that had been created at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar over the last three years. In a subsequent digital conference between Tokyo and Weimar, students from the two universities discussed the work and the future of immersive media together.
