GRAFE Advanced Polymers pledges long-term support of the marke.6 student initiative
GRAFE Advanced Polymers, a company with headquarters in Blankenhain, Germany upped its support for the marke.6 university gallery when it signed a long-term cooperation agreement with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The company's funding provides a reliable source of support for the GRAFE-Kreativpreis and an associated exhibition at the PositionsBerlin Art Fair.
The accompanying contract was signed by the company's founder Matthias Grafe and Prof. Dr-Ing. Karl Beucke, President (Rector) of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, on Thursday, 3 September 2015.
The GRAFE-Kreativpreis has been a mainstay of the marke.6 university gallery for the past 6 years. The prize recognises outstanding artistic work by students. The artists are selected by an independent jury from the disciplines of art, design, and architecture during the annual summaery exhibition. At the same time, participants are selected for Bauhaus Essentials, an exhibition of current student work at the marke.6 university gallery.
GRAEF-Kreativpreis awardees also have the opportunity to present their work with the mark.6 gallery during Berlin Art Week at the PositionsBerlin Art Fair and appear before an international art audience while they are still students.
Company founder Matthias Grafe explains the reasons for the long-term cooperation with marke.6: »We want to support both the creative potential of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the professionalism with which the students operate the university gallery. We want to encourage this commitment over the long term.«
Andrea Karle and June Drevet, graduates of the Media Culture programme and coordinators of marke.6, underscore the importance of this sponsorship, »For our student-run university gallery it is a huge stroke of luck to be able to exhibit at an international art fair. The GRAFE-Kreativpreis offers students the unique opportunity to forge their first contacts with the art market and get on the right course for the time after graduation.«
From 17 to 20 September 2015, the PositionsBerlin Art Fair will present the work of 78 exhibitors from 16 countries in the context of the Berlin Art Week. To show the work of young artists, create new impetus and development at colleges of fine arts, a new format was established at the PositionsBerlin Art Fair called academyPositions. The trade fair director Kristian Jarmuschek explains, »The opportunity that the GRAFE-Kreativpreis gives young artists is an excellent chance to gain direct access to the international art scene.«
The 2015 winners of the GRAFE-Kreativpreis who showed their work at the PositionsBerlin Art Fair are Anna Schöller, Charlene Hahne, Benjamin Büchner and Johannes Hensel, Francis Kamprath and Matthias Falco Walther.
The overall selection of the jury for the »Bauhaus Essentials« exhibition can be seen from 23 October to 13 December 2015 in the Other Music Academy in Ernst-Kohl-Straße in Weimar.
