On Wednesday, 12 February 2025, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar students will be presenting the results of their project in Suhl. The public presentation will be held at 5 pm in the Congress Centrum Suhl. Those interested are invited to attend the presentation and join in a discussion with the students afterwards.

For the third time in a row, an alumna of the binational Europäische Medienkultur (EMK) degree programme at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has received the Franco-German University (DFH) Excellence Award: Emilia Terodde was recognised this year for her Bachelor's thesis, »Hörbare Abwesenheit. Der Sound als Träger der Erinnerung in ›The Zone of Interest‹«. The award ceremony was held on 30 January 2025 at the French Embassy in Berlin.

At the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, we understand that we play a key role in society, especially in Weimar and Thuringia. We fulfil this role by embracing social responsibility, actively representing democratic values in public, understanding democracy as a fundamental element of our identity, and drawing on scientific, artistic and administrative knowledge and expertise. To highlight this position, the Presidential Board is taking advantage of the 2025–2027 annual themes and providing targeted incentives to increase the visibility of research, teaching, and transfer activities in society. This includes two new funding initiatives: the BEYOND NOW Fund and the continuation of the »Demokratie stärken« (strengthening democracy) Fund.

Beginning immediately, students, doctoral candidates, and employees at the university can submit a formal complaint to the University Complaints Office for Discrimination Cases if they have experienced discrimination based on racist and ethnicised attributions, gender, sexual and/or gender identity, age, disability and/or chronic illness, religion or ideology. In doing this, the university is ensuring that its members and affiliates are protected as stipulated in the General Equal Treatment Act.

Unter dem Motto »Macht aus Fragen Antworten« findet der 30. Regionalwettbewerb von »Jugend forscht« für Mittelthüringen am Mittwoch, 26. Februar 2025, an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar statt. Bereits zum dritten Mal veranstaltet die Universität gemeinsam mit der Materialforschungs- und Prüfanstalt (MFPA) Weimar den renommierten Nachwuchswettbewerb.

Wer eine vielversprechende Geschäftsidee hat und diese weiterentwickeln möchte, findet im Startup-Programm neudeli Fellowship die passende Unterstützung. Die Gründungswerkstatt neudeli bietet ab Mai 2025 eine sechsmonatige Starthilfe, um innovative Ideen auf den Weg zu bringen. Bewerbungen sind ab sofort möglich.

For the eighth time, students from the Faculty of Art and Design are inviting visitors to the Winterwerkschau. From 7 to 9 February, visitors will be given exclusive insights into over 50 current academic projects. The focus isn’t solely on the finished work – the creative process itself is also on display. Starting on Saturday, 8 February, from 10 am to 2 pm, prospective students can visit the exhibition and learn more about studying in the fields of art and design. Prior registration is not necessary.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, together with nine European partner universities, officially launched its »BAUHAUS4EU« University Alliance on 1 January 2025. The Alliance will be funded by the European Union with a total of 14.4 million euros as part of the ERASMUS+ »European Universities« programme. The goal is to establish a European campus that offers integrated education and research programmes and ensures seamless mobility for over 124,000 students and 10,000 staff members.

Das Institut für Europäische Urbanistik lädt am 3. Februar, 18 bis 20 Uhr, zu einem Themenabend zur brasilianischen Wohnungsfrage in englischer Sprache ein.

From 4 to 11 February, Weimar's »Atrium« is attracting visitors with a special experience: students from the »Art and Social Terrain« class at the Faculty of Art and Design are designing two shops in the shopping centre. They are putting on an exhibition and offering daily »skill-share workshops« where participants can learn new things and socialise. The vernissage, a performative tour, begins on Tuesday, 4 February 2025, at 5 pm. The meeting point is the red carpet in front of the main entrance.
