Project description
The wasteful and environmentally destructive use of resources in construction is responsible for more than 50% of the world's waste and a huge CO2 overproduction. Materialgeschichten is dedicated to possible solutions and appeals to the current discourse on construction by raising awareness. By means of a self-experiment, we examined the obstacles and prejudices of circular construction and put them to the test in a 1:1 implementation. Our work wants to give the resources of our environment back their value. We collected materials that were actually already consigned to the landfill back into circulation. By telling the particular stories of each component, we have given the scraped material back an identity and thus its value. Through a collaborative construction workshop, a convertible and deconstructable pavilion was created, made entirely of salvaged material as well as material donations from Weimar's urban mine. This pavilion is now a safe place for everyone on the campus of the Bauhaus University and can be used for events, readings and joint exchange.
