Project description
"May the inward and outward be as one", Socrates said and we will keep that in mind as a motto for this semester's project in which we will rethink concepts of packaging and covers of all kinds. How can we suspensefully recharge covers and envelopes to create desire for their contents? In packaging design, we consciously play with expectations - when is it opportune to fulfill them and when to break with them? What is revealed, what remains a secret? And how do we work with given material in a visionary yet sustainable manner?
In this project, we will explore the potential of classic graphic surfaces first and then move on to three-dimensional concepts. We will deal with book covers, the pros and cons of paper as a material and and finally experiment with completely unseen ways of wrapping things. Our last and biggest wrap will happen at the Summaery - we will try to wrap Marienstraße 1!
