Project description
The status quo of design practice is strongly male and patriarchal. This can be seen in the university structures, where cis men are still dominantly represented in leading positions, e.g. as professors. Also the taught aesthetic standards still have a patriarchal, Eurocentric origin. Underlying our project are numerous questions: How does patriarchy manifest itself in contemporary design practice and who determines the standards? What intersectional, feminist perspectives have been suppressed throughout history? What can resistant design look like today?
In doing so, we seek to develop a critical view of the tenets of design theories and the rules of "good" taste, and to apply our findings practically according to this. Since reflection is an ongoing process, our exhibits show a current insight into our state of work. The exhibits must be viewed and evaluated with the knowledge that some of them are not yet finished.
Exhibited are mainly experiments and ideas that can be assigned to typography and graphic design.
