Project description

As students, we are responsible for quite a few things that actually make up campus life: we form initiatives, run café shifts at the M18, organize demos, parties and much more. But all these activities also need reliable structures in the background, be it through financing or the provision of rooms and infrastructures. And even beyond that, it is necessary to represent and enforce student interests within the university structures. However, it is precisely this essential part of student engagement within university politics that has difficulties finding committed students.

In the seminar "Hocus Pocus University Politics" we wanted to find out together with students of all faculties - no matter if they are already active or completely new - why this is the case. Which (de-)motivating factors exist for students to get involved in university politics, where are the structural problems and what kind of solutions can be derived from this? We have analyzed, conducted conversations, started surveys and finally developed constructive proposals to get to the bottom of the mystery of university politics.
