Project description
In this seminar, we went on a search for the "essence of the city" and asked questions such as "what constitutes the essence of a city?", "how can it be recognized?" and above all: "how can it be explored?". We tested different concepts on how to convey Weimar's special characteristics, potentials and problems and thus come to a sustainable, overall social change.
On our search for clues we got to know current urban development processes, discussed with decision makers from politics and administration and conducted interviews with residents. In this way, different aspects of participation and co-determination opened up, leading to a broader understanding of social responsibility as creators.
We appropriated the city through several dimensions of appropriation, from simple motor experience to spacing, i.e., the self-acting creation of spaces.
The result was an intervention at Goetheplatz on July 1.
