Project description

The task is to design a new campus for the new research center CLAIRE Centre for Climate Action and Innovation - Research & Engineering. An urban concept is to be developed and a building or an ensemble of buildings is to be planned in the sense of a structural design. Based on this, a cost framework is to be drawn up. Two different plots of land are available. A commercial site in the east of Leipzig (TechPark Leipzig - Theklafelder) and a site in the south of Leipzig at the Störmthaler See, on the so-called "Magdeborner Halbinsel". After a joint site analysis for both possibilities, one of the sites can be chosen. It is possible to work in groups of 2 to 5 people. The project is a real venture that is to be developed within the framework of the "Strukturstärkungsgesetz Kohleregionen" (StStG), which came into force on August 14, 2020. This law provides for the creation of structural aid measures for the federal states or coalfields and sites affected by the lignite phase-out. In Section 17 No. 29 of the StStG, provision is made for the establishment of one new large-scale research center each in Lusatia in Saxony and in the Central German mining region on the basis of a competitive procedure. The invitation to submit tenders was issued by the BMBF together with the Free State of Saxony as part of the competition "Wissen schafft Perspektiven für die Region"- Knowledge creates prospects for the region.
