Project description

Join us for the exhibition of the semester's work from our project module 'Filming Resilience - Animationsfilm / Dokumentarfilm / Animadoc ' that took place in the winter semester 20/21! We will be projecting our videos outdoors on a special single evening, to share what we have achieved in this course.

Resilience, noun: the ability to mentally or emotionally cope with a crisis or to return to pre-crisis status quickly

What is the state of mental resilience like in times of crisis? What issues arise when we face a difficult situation?
These questions and other related issues guided us throughout this seminar. From this research, we went on to identify, analyze and formulate a plot for a film aimed at a wider audience. We developed our own perspective on the topic and transferred it within this semester into a concept for a documentary piece, an animated film or an "AnimaDoc", a hybrid of both. Special attention was presented to the boundaries of the genres of documentary, animation or experimental storytelling.

We tackled the complex topic of resilience in collaboration with art students from our upcoming partner university of the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University. The international context opened our eyes to other realities and at the same time helped to reflect on their own situation.
