Project description

Electricity empowers.

Health, economic productivity, gender equality, education or the climate are exemplary sectors that significantly benefit from functioning energy systems. Around two billion people in the world have no or very limited access to electricity. It is evident that a global, affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy solution ensures greater equity and, in particular, empowers vulnerable populations to improve their lifes autonomously. Big institutions are working on large-scale energy grids that can be "laid" over entire villages, regions or even countries. This project is pushing for a small and simple, but concrete solution. Solar energy allows for decentralised application that can be applied immediately and regardless from large systems.

This design is a solar-powered lighting system. It is modular, works in a decentralized way and is therefore location-independent. It is primarily aimed at energy-poor regions, but can also be applied in other contexts of off-grid light use. In addition, it is also applicable within a rental service and thus maximally adaptable.

A scalable photovoltaic box charges the basic element of the module ensemble, the battery. This can then be coupled to various upper and lower modules. In this way, light can be used to react instantly to various conditions and situations.
