Project description

Balancing the energy demand for building operation, for example in form of heating or electricity, is an integral part of the work of the Chair of Building Physics. With the Bauhaus2050 research project, the campus is now the focus of the investigation. The aim is to develop a catalogue of measures to reduce CO2 emissions so that a climate-neutral building stock is achieved by 2050 at the latest. The greatest challenge is working in the context of historic preservation, which requires a cautious approach.

Following the motto "TheSum" in this year's summaery we do not only want to give an insight into studying under the influence of the pandemic, but also dare to take a look into the future. We understand "TheSum" as a call to balance CO2 emissions on the way to a climate-neutral campus. In various teaching formats during this summer semester, students dealt with data collection, building physics simulation, result evaluation and presentation. The results of this works were recorded in short videos, which you watch on this summaery.

Special thanks go to the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) and the Chancellor's office for making the project possible. In addition, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the other supporters, such as the Servicezentrum Liegenschaften.
