Project description

Climate change poses a risk to the built infrastructure. Global warming and the associated changes in the climate system increases the risk of irreversible harmful consequences.

Technical objectives:
• Development of modelling and simulation approaches for the assessment of the impacts of climate change on the built environment and selection of appropriate adaptation strategies;
• Systematic investigations and conceptual studies on identifying the relevant consequences of climate change;
• Prognostic statements on the behavior of the climate models, taking into account model uncertainties;
• Systematic investigation of the consequences for structural behavior and the necessary adaptation strategies in design, implementation and upgrading;
• Development of smart sensor solutions for the monitoring and adaptation of structures;
• Assessment of the consequences for building practice and future construction (in cooperation with the Industry Advisory Board).

Note: Parts of this project are presented in English and German.
