Project description

Since the processes for the redesign of the outside areas of the Van de Velde buildings from 2016 to 2019, students have been concerned with the possibilities and opportunities, but above all with the need for participatory planning in the process of renovating or building new university spaces. In the Bauhaus.Module "Gemeinsam Planen ?!" In the winter semester 2019/20, a draft guideline on participation in construction projects at the Bauhaus University was drawn up in order to establish participatory planning for building measures at the university. At the same time, the university management is planning a new large construction project on the campus. In Struktur- und Entwicklungsplan (STEP) for 2025, 1.5 million euros have been set aside for the construction of a university gallery with a research and learning workshop (planned on the x.stahl site). In order to ensure that these plans do not pass the (university) public noiselessly, we wanted to test approaches of the draft guidelines based on this new construction project and put them into practice in the project "Participatory planning at a distance". Numerous interviews with actors already in the process helped to provide a solid foundation of information. In the further process, possible participatory approaches were developed.
