Project description

This is a sub-project which belongs to a main project 'Hotel und Regionalkonzept für die Historische Hauptstadt der Euregio Maas-Rhein: Limbourg, Belgien. Teilprojekt 1: Regionales Entwicklungskonzept; Teilprojekt 2: Entwicklung und Entwurf eines Hotels'.

In this sub-project 1, a regional development concept is to be created for the region of the former Duchy of Limbourg and its surrounding areas. This project focus on 3 cities: Verviers, Limbourg and Eupen, which are located in different languages speaking communities in the Liège province, Wallonia region, Belgium. What makes this project fascinating is not only the rich culture backgrounds among German, Belgian and French, but also the international cooperation of ‘Meuse–Rhine Euroregion’ which has been set up since 1976.

This development is suggested to be taken further in the Euroregion and beyond. A vision statement and a forward-looking, sustainable regional concept for the next decade is to be developed, which analyzes and makes the best of the tourism, landscape, cultural and socio-economic potential of the region.
