Broadcasting Licence Fee
In Germany, every person must pay the so-called "Rundfunkbeitrag" (Broadcasting Licence Fee). This is a fee of 18,36 euros per month that must be paid per household, regardless of whether you use the services of the public media institutions (TV, radio, etc.).
If you live together with several people in one household, you can share the fee. For example, 4 people living in one household each pay 4,59 Euros per month.
Please check if the broadcasting fee is already part of your rent by contacting the landlord/landlady regarding this.
Please note Regardless of whether the fee is already included in your rent, it is imperative that you register with the "Beitragsservice" after moving in as an individual and deregister before you return home! |
If you have further questions or need more information, please visit the Broadcasting Licence Fee website. Here you will also find all the necessary documents for registration, deregistration and their FAQs.
