Application Deadlines
After you have been nominated by your home university, you can apply for a study abroad position at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar during the following periods:
- Deadline for a place in the Bauhaus winter semester: 01 April to 15 June
- Deadline for a place in the Bauhaus summer semester: 01 October to 15 November

Please note:
The Welcome Events as well as the German Intensive Language Course at the University´s Language Center (obligatory and free of charge for incoming students with a German language level below B2) take place before the start of the lecture period. For the Bauhaus winter semester in September, for the Bauhaus summer semester in March. Please take this into account when planning your arrival. Please note: We only accept exchange students from universities with which we have a partnership agreement (no free movers). Theses cannot be supervised as part of your exchange studies.
3 steps to Bauhaus-Universität Weimar |

Step 1: Application at your home university The first step on the way to a semester abroad at Bauhaus-Universität is to apply at your home university. Please get in touch with the International Office at your university to find out more about the application process. |
Step 2: Nomination at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar After your successful application at your home university, your will be nominated for a semester abroad at Bauhaus-Universität. |
Step 3: Application at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar After we have confirmed your nomination to your home university, you can apply to Bauhaus-Universität Weimar through our Online Portal for Incoming Students. You will receive the link to the portal from us by e-mail after a positive decision has been made on your nomination. |

After you have been successfully nominated by your home university and after we have send you the link to our "Bauhaus Portal for Incoming Students", you have to submit the following documents with your application:
- Motivation letter
Please explain in 1-2 pages why you would like to study at Bauhaus-Universität and what particularly interests you about the selected study program. - Proof of language skills (German)
detailed information about the German language certification can be found here. - Proof of language skills (English)
detailed information about the English language certification can be found here. - Transcript of Records
An overview of the courses you have taken so far at your home university. In combination with your language certificates, the Transcript of Records helps us to check your academic suitability for your chosen study programme at Bauhaus-Universität. - Bachelor certificate (only for Master students)
If you are applying for a Master degree at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, please enclose your Bachelor certificate (copy) with your application. - Portfolio (only for applications at the Faculty of Art and Design)
If you are applying for a study programme at the Faculty of Art and Design, please upload a portfolio in the online form, the content of which is tailored to the corresponding study programme at Bauhaus-Universität (file size max. 10 MB).
