Internationalisation Strategy 2016-2020

Internationality and internationalisation are integral components of the self-concept and profile of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The university strategically pursues internationalisation with the aim of internationalising all areas of the organisation. To that end, internationalisation is structurally anchored at a number of different points:

  • on the University Directorate level, through the Vice-President of Academic Affairs
  • at the level of the International Office, through the Strategic Internationalisation Officer.

As a cross-sectional task, internationalisation affects every aspect of the university: academic programmes and teaching, research, personnel, as well as infrastructure and services. At the same time, due to its complexity and in view of continued budgetary constraints, the internationalisation process requires a tighter focus. We are facing and responding to these challenges. To do so, the University Directorate, the faculties, and the university administration have taken measures to sharpen the overarching university-wide internationalisation strategy. The International Office coordinates its implementation, in cooperation with the University Rectorate, the various administrative units, and the deans' offices.

To ensure that the internationalisation process strengthens the university as a whole, it has to be taken into account in every decision. Internationalisation is not simply propped up on top of existing structures, but rather it promotes the continued development of the entire institution in a changing global context. Through the strategic advancement of the internationalisation process, the entire Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is strengthened and developed.
