Save the Date: summaery2022 Annual Exhibition Focuses on the Question of »Wer weiß? | Who knows?«

After two years of pandemic, this year’s annual exhibition Ucan finally once again take place on the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus. From 14 to 17 July 2022, studios, workrooms and seminar rooms will be transformed into exhibition spaces and visitors invited to learn more about the projects completed by the four faculties and their departments in the current academic year.

This year, the Faculty of Media is responsible for organising the summaery. It has selected the intentionally ambiguous bilingual title of »Wer weiß? | Who knows?« to reflect on how knowledge is produced where and by whom. The question of how we as an institution, society and individuals have handled uncertainty and unpredictability in the past two years will also be considered.

»We address the question of which knowledge is recognised and represented in which media formats and which is not,« says Prof. Dr. Henning Schmidgen, Dean of the Faculty of Media.
Following on from this is the topical self-reflexive question of whether universities are today still privileged places for the production and dissemination of knowledge. At the same time, in light of the global upheaval that the coronavirus pandemic and climate crisis have brought with them, there is a great need for predictability of the future. »Though uncertainty is not a tangible dimension, it is confronted by society in a whole variety of ways,« says Schmidgen of the conceptual approach.

The summaery2022 seeks answers in artistic exhibitions, discussion rounds and insights into research projects. Visitors are invited to explore the diverse places, practices and forms of knowledge together with teachers and students, and to engage with the unpredictable. After two years of mainly digital events, the summaery2022 will return to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus, attracting visitors to numerous satellite sites such as the Faculty of Media’s newly occupied temporary campus at Schwanseestrasse 143. The programme will be available soon on www.uni-weimar.de/summaery and, from July, also as a printed programme flyer.
