We are looking Forward to it!

Competition in connection with the Bauhaus Anniversary 2019 »100 Years of Bauhaus«: development of a corporate identity / corporate design

When the Bauhaus was founded in Weimar, a modern experiment began at a design university with global influence. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar continues to take on this historical role as a catalyst for creativity and a location that welcomes experimentation, which is expressed through the thematically oriented university with global networking. As the successor institution, located at the founding site, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will also play the role of the hostess. Great international attention is expected in 2019, which given the proper format will lead to a productive cultural discourse. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will play a key role in this historically significant anniversary.

For that reason, we are looking for a new design concept (e.g. logo, colour scheme, layout ideas etc.), which is able to visually incorporate the very different activities of all four faculties. In addition to colour, shape, typography and image conception, a fitting theme/slogan should also be created for this purpose. It is important to assure that the new concept is compatible with the existing corporate design of the university.

All alumni, staff and students from all four faculties are eligible to participate in phase 1: expression of interest. The competition participants should be able to demonstrate that they are capable of performing the given task. During phase 1, expression of interest, the participants are not required to perform any type of creative work. Along with the participation application and a short motivational statement, the following documents / information must also be submitted:

  • Competency in the necessary design disciplines (references), in particular in the area of »developing corporate identities« (portfolio with examples)
  • Significance of corporate design projects in previous work
  • Presentation of the candidates (including description of performance profiles and potential cooperation partners)
  • Presentation of the resources that would be necessary to realise the project
  • Current list of wages (hourly rates)

A total of six candidates from the application pool will be chosen to participate in the competition (phase 2). The deadline for submissions is 31 October 2015. All submissions must be in PDF form. Submissions may be made in either English or German. The candidate selection process will be governed by a jury comprised of representatives from the Rectorate, all four faculties, the »Bauhaus100« office and the University Communications. All decisions are final.

All relevant questions should be sent per e-mail to Markus Weisbeck: markus.weisbeck[at]uni-weimar.de
