Prof. Dr. Charles Wüthrich

Charles Albert Wüthrich received a "Laurea" Degree in Applied Mathematics from Milan State University (I) in 1987, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Zurich (CH) in 1990. In 1991-1992 he has been Postdoctoral fellow at the Computer Systems Research Institute of the University of Toronto. Between 1992 and 1994 he was awarded an ERCIM Research Fellowship, involving stays at Rutherford-Appleton Labs (UK), INESC (P) and CWI (NL). In 1994 he was guest Assistant Professor at the LaBRI Lab of the University of Bordeaux 1 (F). In late 1994 he joined the Computer Science Department of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as an Associate Professor for Computer Graphics. In 1996 he has co-founded the Faculty of Media at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, where he was dean between 1999 and 2002 and where he holds the chair of Computer Graphics.

His current research interests include Discrete Graphics, Algorithmic Computer Graphics, Real Time Physical Simulations, Plant Growth simulation and Image Quality analysis. He has been working on several projects involving arts and science, and has consulted for more than two decades Arts and Media Institutions on the use of high tech for their projects, and third world countries on the introduction of Computer Graphics in Computer Science curricula. In this context, he held in 2003 a guest full professorship at the University of the Philippines in Dilliman, Quezon City. A member of Eurographics, he has published more than 30 scientific papers on international journals and at international conferences. He served in the Executive Committee of Eurographics between 2001 and 2005. He has also served in the International Program Committee of many international conferences, including Eurographics, and as member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal "Computers and Graphics" and "Journal of Creative Interfaces & Computer Graphics".
