From 10 am to 6 pm, the Mensa am Park will be transformed into a colourful Christmas market. In addition to creative Christmas accessories made out of a broad range of materials. Some of which are recycled, the market will also be offering numerous gift ideas, such as design products and unique everyday pieces designed by Bauhaus-Universität Weimar students and alumni.

Staff member Masihne Rasuli, for instance, will be offering her own hand-designed calendars, posters, silkscreen series and greeting cards. Visuelle Kommunikation (Visual Communication) student Lena Weber will be at the market with recycled Euro containers in various colours and sizes as well as her handmade scarves embellished with an experimental typeface design. An alumni community from the Faculty of Art and Design have joined forces to form the artist collective »A Studio«, which produces handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces as well as a number of local small series. Anouk Felser, another Visuelle Kommunikation (Visual Communication) student, will be selling unique prints and ceramics.

More Than Just a Christmas Market: »LebkuchenBauhausWettbewerb« and »Weimarer Kneipenchor«

The Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism Faculty Staff Council’s »LebkuchenBauhausWettbewerb« (gingerbread house competition) will take place once again this year on the ground floor of the Mensa. Students from all disciplines will be building unique edible gingerbread structures for guests to admire. The most impressive structures will be awarded prizes at 5 pm and then auctioned off. The »Kneipenchor Weimar« will also be performing their own renditions of pop songs and Christmas carols on the ground floor of the Mensa at 2 and 3 pm.

About the Organisers

The Bauhaus Christmas Market with the slogan »Buy Yourself a Piece of Bauhaus« is organised by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar University Communications department and the Bauhaus.Atelier team together with Studierendenwerk Thüringen. The event is organised as a mediator between studies and the work world. Students and alumni are given a platform to present their products and to make them accessible to the public.
