The SCC manages the telephone infrastructure of the Bauhaus-Universität and thus ensures the general telephone supply of the university. In addition to the use of the telephone network in administration and research, the service software »Cisco Jabber« is also available for controlling one's own office telephone via PC and MAC.

Current changes

Telephones at the workplace:

The display is automatically switched off when not in use.
Pressing any key or lifting the handset switches the display on.
After replacing the handset, the display switches off again after a short time.

Due to the update of the software on our telephone system, it is necessary to enter a PIN when logging into the user portal for the first time.
This PIN is required to activate services on the phone.
Currently, only the Personal Telephone Directory service is offered.

Telephone devices and important functions for use

Employees of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar generally have »Cisco 7942/62« telephones available at their workplace. An overview of the function keys and detailed operating instructions can be found in the »Instructions« section on this page.

We have summarised the most important functions for daily use as well as frequently asked questions in connection with the use of the phones for you in the following points:

Simple call

  1. Enter the telephone number. Then press the softkey »wählen« or lift the handset.
  2. During dialling, the phone number can be corrected at any time with the softkey »<<«.
  3. If authorised, an outside line is dialled by entering a »0« beforehand.

Connecting

A call can be transferred with or without consultation (consultation before transfer):

  • Softkey »überg.« + number + consultation if necessary + 2nd time softkey »überg.«

During the consultation, the participant can be withdrawn:

  • Softkey »Rufende« + Softkey »Heranholen«

Redirect

  • Call forwarding can be done by pressing the softkey »Rufuml.« and entering the 6-digit internal call number or the possibly available speed dialling key.
  • This can be cancelled by simply pressing the softkey »Rufuml.«.
  • Call forwarding is always breakable by the call forwarding destination, i.e. if subscriber 581001 redirects to 581002, 581002 can still reach him, all other calls go to 581002.
  • External redirections cause costs for the redirector.
  • Redirections to foreign networks are not possible.

Conference

  • Enter the call number and press the »wählen« softkey or lift the handset.
  • After the other party has reported, press the »Weiter« and »Konfer.« softkeys, enter the telephone number of the next party and press the »Konfer.« softkey after the other party has reported.

  • The list of participants can be displayed via the softkey »Weiter« + »Konflist«.

Callback when the line is busy / called party does not answer

  • This service is available system-wide for all telephones, but not for calls to the public telephone network.
  • During the call to the subscriber, press the softkeys »Rückruf« + »Beenden« then there will be a signal from the desired call partners the next time the handset is put down.
  • After signalling, the »wählen« softkey is pressed, which causes the desired participant to ring.
