The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar confirms current and new Vice-Presidents
At a meeting on Wednesday 4 March 2020, the University Senate confirmed Dr. Jutta Emes and Dr.-Ing. Christian Koch as Vice Presidents. In doing so, the members of the Senate aligned with the Dr. Winfried Speitkamp’s recommendations.
Dr.-Ing. Christian Koch will be replacing the current Vice-President of Academic Affairs Prof. Nathalie Singer when his new term of office begins on 5 April 2020. His areas of responsibility will also include digitality, specifically as it pertains to studies and teaching. Dr. Jutta Emes has been Vice-President since 2017 and will be responsible for international affairs, diversity, equal opportunities and transfer.

About Dr. Jutta Emes
Dr. Jutta Emes has been Professor of Marketing and Media Research at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Faculty of Media since 2010 (appointment accepted 2011). From April 2014 to March 2017, she was Prorector of Academic Affairs. She has also been Vice-President of Internationalisation and Digitisation at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since April 2017. After completing her studies in business in Düsseldorf, she studied and completed a doctorate and postdoctorate at the Faculty of Business Management and Economics of the Julius Maximilian University in Würzburg. This was followed by positions as Acting Professor under the Chair of Marketing at the University of Kassel, Lecturer in International Marketing and Entrepreneurial Marketing at the University of Liechtenstein, Acting Professor for International Management at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich, and Professor of Marketing Management at Steinbeis University in Berlin. Her research focuses on brand management and communication, social media, international market entry strategies, and strategic marketing for digital information products. Jutta Emes has sat on the board of the regional public broadcaster Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk since April 2016.
About Dr.-Ing. Christian Koch
Dr.-Ing. Christian Koch was appointed Interim Professor of Intelligent Technical Design at the Faculties of Civil Engineering and Media in 2017, and is the head of the Digital Engineering Master’s degree programme. After studying Civil Engineering and completing a Ph.D. (2008) in Computer Science in Civil Engineering at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, his career path took him to the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta (2010), the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (2010-2014) and the University of Nottingham (2015-2017) before returning to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Teaching and research activities under his professorship address the applications of new information and communication technologies within the lifecycle of structural and technical infrastructure. Christian Koch has authored and co-authored more than 100 scientific publications in the form of articles in scholarly journals, specialist books and expert-reviewed conference papers. He is also a member of the board of the European Group of Intelligent Computing in Engineering and of the Computing Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
