Dear students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering,
after a good start in the digital semester in combination with the selected classroom-based events since the beginning of June, we would like to inform you about the upcoming examination period.
As a Faculty of Engineering, we have primarily defined written exams in our study regulations and module sheets. In addition to the semester papers and homeworks, they check the breadth of knowledge and the understanding of materials. Due to the pandemic, we are currently required to consider digital forms of examination in the summer semester 2020. However, there are legal and technical hurdles that limit this procedure. Particularly in the subjects, in which the calculative methods are dealt with, alternative forms of examination are hardly possible. For example, it is currently not possible to conduct digital written examinations, even if a so-called proctor is used. In this respect, we have to deal with a large number of offline written examinations during this summer semester.
Consequential, we have quickly understood that we need additional room capacity in order to comply with the applicable hygiene regulations. We therefore decided to rent the Weimarhalle for the entire examination period. Due to the size of the room, the modern ventilation technology and the path protection, we can guarantee written examinations for a large number of attending students and conduct them without health concerns. Of course, the space of the Weimar Hall is also available to the other faculties.
At the same time, student representatives have conducted a survey on the examinations in consultation with us. We would like to express our sincere thanks once again for this commitment! The results showed a clear preference for offline examinations too, so that we finally received a unanimous vote for our concept in the Faculty Council on the 10th of June 2020.
We are aware that individual students cannot take part in the offline examinations for various reasons. For such cases, we are currently trying to find solutions that are fair, practicable and just. In addition, we are also working out a hygiene concept for the course of examinations at our Faculty, in coordination with the Presidium. To this extent, everything should go its normal way, even under these difficult conditions.
We ask you to consult your respective teachers regarding the form, time, and place of the examinations.
Best regards

Dear students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering,
We would like to inform you about the upcoming summer semester 2020, in addition to the previous newsletters and the information on the current situation, which is constantly updated on the homepage:
There are still a lot of open issues, but they are being addressed intensively. Of particular importance in this regard are the examinations. This concerns the practical implementation, but also formal legal aspects. As soon as solutions are available here, we will inform you about them.
The faculty student council invites all students to join the moodle room of the student council. The aim is to gather all students of the faculty in a moodle room and to provide you with information easily. The course is provided by the faculty student council. It contains practical information about HiWi tenders, financing possibilities, links to moodle courses of the upcoming semester and surveys of the FsR. Access to the course can be found here: https://moodle.uni-weimar.de/course/view.php?id=1185 (Password: fachschaftb).
We are looking forward to the upcoming start of the summer semester! Stay healthy!
With best regards
