"A Transport System for the Degrowth City" - Presentation at the Postwachstumsstadt Conference in Weimar

How could a transportation system look like, which is uncoupeld from traffic and economic growth? Julius Uhlmann, research and teaching assistant at the Chair of Transport System Planning, and Johannes Elstner discussed this question at the Postwachstumsstadt conference in Weimar on May 10 and 11.

No matter how life will be in a degrowth society, a need for mobility will still subsist. To satisfy this need for mobility a transportation system is needed in the degrowth city. In the scope of the presentation, a common vision for such a system was developed with the participants and two scenarios (fare-free public transport and bike traffic) were discussed in detail.

The Postwachstumsstadt conference took place at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and was organized by the Chair of Urban Studies and Social Research. Target group were as well people from academia as well as practitioners and activists. More information regarding the conference can be found here.
