Performance approaches in the HDD process

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is an efficient and environmentally friendly drilling method for trenchless pipeline installation. Due to its wide range of applications, it can be used for almost all supply and disposal media. Lengths of up to 3 km and diameters of up to 2 m can be realized with this method. Excavations are only required in the area of the start and target structures. The drilling speed depends on a large number of factors and parameters. On the basis of real drilling data, the dependency factors on the drilling speed are to be identified and their quality and quantity investigated.

The aim is to develop and derive working time guidelines for improved construction time planning in HDD drilling depending on the influencing factors.
