How can vibrations in structures be made visible and even audible? Answers to these questions will be provided by the 5th ProTELC Science Camp »Structural Echoes«, which will take place from September 24 to October 2, 2026, at the Technical University of Ilmenau and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. This free science camp is aimed at upper-level undergraduate students and graduate students from the partner universities and combines engineering, digital methods, and creative approaches in a hands-on workshop.
During the Science Camp, participants build small-scale structures and equip them with modern sensor technologies such as accelerometers and fiber-optic sensors. They then investigate the dynamic behavior of the models, analyze the measurement data collected, and use it to develop visualizations, simulations, and even soundscapes. This provides an exciting insight into the possibilities of modern measurement technology and digital methods.
Working in interdisciplinary teams, participants learn, among other things,
The Science Camp offers a creative workshop atmosphere that brings together experimentation, engineering thinking, and data analysis. Participants gain hands-on insights into current fields of research and application and work together to develop innovative solutions.
