Photo Workshop Introductory Courses
Introductory courses provide students the technical basics of the photographic process. Practical exercises aim to train the participants to be able to use the Workshop facilities as autonomously as possible / to work in a specialist area. After successfully completing the introduction, students are allowed to work in the Workshop independently (see also the Operating Instructions of the Faculty of Art and Design).
Introductory Courses:
- Black-and-white Lab Technique
Includes the exposure, development and enlargement of negative black-and-white films.
Duration: 10 hours / Material costs: 5 Euro - Studio Technology
Includes camera, flash technology as well as post production and color management
Duration: 14 hours / Material costs: 0 Euro - Color Negative Technique
Includes enlarging color negatives.
Duration: 8 hours / Material costs: 5 Euro - Large Format Camera Technology (advanced course, prerequisite is Introduction to Studio Technology course)
Includes large format camera techniques, 4x5 and 8x10inch.
Duration: 10 hours / Material costs: 0 Euro - Digital Workflow und Colormanagement
Duration: 2-3 hours
Qualified to use the workshop's PC and scan pools
General Information
Introductory courses takes place on different days at specific times set in advance by the Workshop staff. It is obligatory to attend all introductory course sessions. Dates will be published here.
The Photo Workshop organizes regular introductory courses as preparation for projects or Fach-courses during the winter semester from the beginning of November until the Christmas holidays, and in the summer semester from mid-April to the end of May. During the semester break, it is also possible to organize introductory courses in consultation with the Photo Workshop staff.
